WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR IN PATTAYA:

 

 

1/. If buying pills try not to buy on Pattaya Klang Rd as the prices are dear (you are paying their high rents). Some shops are franchises and many pills are generic copies that you may find not suitable. Avoid all the main Bar streets for pharmacy stocks unless you really have to but compare proces as you will get a shock from some. Better to buy in Bang Saen or away from the main city area

2/. Avoid the large Noodle shops on Pattaya Klang and 2nd road etc especially on the left side before TOT & 3rd Road. They are tourist traps & prices for Thai food very high. Better to find in the side streets which are good Thai places.

3/. Copy shops charge 2-3 baht each so again avoid the Kodak shops unless you really have to use. Good copy shops near the Naklua P.O. or near schools. Buy a PC & Canon MP145 all in one printer??

4/. As a newcomer you will find prices in Pattaya are a little higher than Chiangmai for instance. Many shops are geared up to take your money if youre unwary but remember Pattaya is a foriegn expat haven.

5/. Remember the TOT installation crew. Question about inlets and a surge protector which you do not need.

6/. Gold is an instant bank so if wearing it watch out for Thais on motorcycles ready to grab your knecklace.

7/. Good Expat Bar/Restaurant & old hands from the UK, NZ, Aus, SA is Jack & Tars in Soi 6 Pattaya North. Ask for Peter or Bruce?? if you have problems

8/. If not sure how much it costs ask first??

9/. Theres many rental bikes but remember if you have an accident or lose the bike you must pay?? Keep it locked all the time and preferably use your own lock?

10/. Don't lend money in Pattaya -- if the person asking does not have now then he will certainly not be able to pay you back no matter what he promises.

11/. Buying your car make sure you have 1yr visa. DO NOT put in your girlfriend's name unless you wish to give it to her.
