Immigration to issue 'frequent traveller' card
A new immigration card will be introduced for use by those going in and out of Thailand by the end of this year, said Immigration Police chief, Pol Lt-Gen Chatchawan Suksomchit.Holders of the Immigration Card will include those who travel in and out of the country three to five times in a year, regardless of their nationality.The Immigration Card holders, Thai and foreign alike, will bypass normal procedures of the Immigration Police which include scanning for criminal suspects or those on the police and immigration Watch List.Instead, the Immigration Card holders will have the privileges to go through fast passage at airports, the Immigration Police chief said.The Immigration Card, which will be issued to travellers by the end of this year, at the height of the tourist season, was part of the efforts to promote tourism and investment in the country.The Immigration Police will also open Call Centre 1178 early next year to provide tourism-related information in eight languages. The service is excellent and quick. Photocopuies are 5 baht each and you can get photos if you forget to take the right info. Well explained and excellent. Plenty of parking as well and they have coffee shops and noodles if you have to wait.
Cheapest visa run to the cambodian border
Get a Songtheo taxi from Pattaya to the Sukhumvit Road/Pattaya Klang (5 Baht). Every few minutes a blue bus stops. Go to Rayong, change to a bus to Chanterbury, change again to Trat (non-air 30 Baht, slow). From Trat by Minibus to the Cambodian Border (100 Baht). The whole trip to the border about 300 Baht/one way.
If you haven't got a visa for Cambodia, you can get one at the Border (1 picture, 1 application form, $US20 for the Visa and $US5 "beermoney). Don't go back the same day, because the guards asking for additional 300-500 Baht 'permit fee'. Take a 'moto taxi' at the Cambodian side to Koh Kong (50 Baht). Guesthouses in Koh Kong: Old 'Otto' Fan room 150 Baht (basic but restaurant OK but cheap) - 'Cheap Charly' 60 Baht for a fan room, OK. Nightlife: 'Chicken farm' (10-20 Baht moto taxi).
