CHOOSING BETWEEN TOT AND TTNT IN PATTAYA

 

The services are not that good in Pattaya but depends on the lines and where you are. Having a faster speed won't necessarily mean a better line as the lines themselves are heavy core and they draw large loads so the Internet speed is always reduced. All connections may be cut as they do not have optic fibres and remember that some companies expect their staff to try to lock subscribers into contracts to get a bonus. Wherever you are, ask your neighbours what the service is like in the street and area and who they use first. Some areas TTnT do not cover at all but if you do use TOT you must pay a line charge to TOT via TTnt for use of their line. If TOT send an installer with unmarked pickup beware of his charges which are rubbish. The line price is including in the installation so its free. TTnT have their own installers and so does TOT but sometimes they contract out. Its these contractors say you need to watch as they ask you for a surge protector on the lamp post-rubbish (50volts yet the line is 12 volt), & 300 baht per jackpoint (go to Tesco and buy yourself as double jackpoint for 40 baht).

CANCELLATIONS:

TTnT may call you to offer promotions. Be careful with these as they lock you in for 1 year. If you withdraw before hand you pay a fee of 5500baht regardless if ony one month so better to pay the full year. If you leave for instance Phuket and come to Pattaya then try to cancel from Phuket first not Pattaya-- forget it. The phone line you must cancel in Phuket but the Internet you can cancel here. Offices in all centres are not unified to control other centres as most logical depts are?? but this is Thailand. However if they say you must cancel your tel in Chiangmai at the Pattaya office just tell them to send a fax as you aready spoke to Chiangmai Office and this is acceptabler.Always ask the question on anything like TOT & TTnT what the promotion is all about: HOW TO CANCEL; HOW LONG IS THE CONTRACT FOR; WHERE YOU CAN CANCEL & IF YOU NEED A FORM. Normally copy of your passport is enough to cancel but who wants to travel to Phuket to just cancel a phone number/line??????????.
